 Hmong Mission of Eau Claire

The Hmong Lutheran Mission of Eau Claire (LCMS) is a mission outreach of the area LCMS churches of Eau Claire to the Hmong Community.  Rev. Neal Xiong is called to be the missionary to the Hmong community.  For more information on Hmong Missions, go to www.hmonglcms.org

Our Vision: 
  • Seeing a small congregation of Hmong Lutherans in Eau Claire
  • The members of the congregation becoming more evangelistic; reaching out to others
  • Becoming self-sustaining, and a larger congregation
We meet at St. Matthew Lutheran Church at 1915 Hogeboom Ave. Eau Claire WI

We are one block west of S. Hastings Way (Business Hwy 53) on Altoona Ave.

Our Worship service times are Sundays at 1:00 pm

Bible studies are held at 2:00 pm

A Hmong Mission Board adminsters the functions and operations of The Hmong Lutheran Mission of Eau Claire.  The board represents each of hte five Eau Claire/Altoona LCMS congregations.  Currently on the board:

A Recent History of LCMS Hmong Mission Work in Eau Claire:

Rev. Yia Vang began his mission work in Eau Claire to the Hmong in 1991 when he served as a vicar at Epiphany Lutheran.  He is now serving at Hope Lutheran, Milwaukee as well as Missionary-at-Large to the Hmong in the South Wisconsin District of the LCMS.
A renewed outreach has been underway sine the fall of 1999.  A Hmong Mission TAsk Force was formed from the representatives from the congregations in teh Eau Claire area.
On September 8, 2002, Neal Xiong was commissioned as Deacon at St. Matthew, and he began to visit the Hmong in our area, as well as begin to have regular worship services in the Hmong language at St. Matthew.  Neal began his studies with the "Ethnic Immigrant Institute of Theology" (EIIT) through the Concordia Seminary, St. Louis in 2004.
Neal and his wife, Swan, live in Eau Claire, with their seven chidlren:  Lai, Choua, Alan, Allen, Kao, Evan, Georgia.  Neal and his family came to the Christian faith through the Sunday School of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Pastor NEal successfully finished his three years of studies with EIIT inb March of 2007.  He was called by St. Matthew in June 2007 to be Missionary to The Hmong Lutheran Mission of Eau Claire. 
In the summer of 2007 we added a part-tiome Mission Developer, REv. Joe Schultz (ret.).  He serves the mission by helping raise visibility and to seek funding for the mission.
The Hmong Lutheran Mission of Eau Claire (LCMS) continues to reach out to the area with Hmong language worship services on Sundays, Bible studies, jHmong Vacation Bible School each summer, visitation to the Hmong community, English Second Language classes, and a radio ministry on WHEM 91.3 FM.
